Both the boys of Castlerock NS and the girls of Banada NS contested the Cumann na
mBunscol indoor hurling finals held in The Teeling Centre, Collooney, on Sunday last. Both
teams faced Geevagh and fought gallantly but lost by narrow margins. The team of
Castlerock  NS was Darren Gaughan, Noel Gaughan (Capt.), Dara Gilligan, Brian Egan,
Kieran Durkin, and Garvan Jones. The Banada girls team was JoAnn Kirrane, Caroline
Leonard, Shauna Henry, Michelle O’Hara, and Rachel Clarke.

In the Skills competition Tourlestrane took the spoils in the 1-2 teacher section.
Congratulations to the winner of the competition, Anthony Lynch, Cloongoonagh
representing Banada NS. Second place went to Noel Gaughan, Killure, and  Castlerock NS
and third place went to Martin Walsh, Carrane, of Banada NS. It is credit to the boys and
their team managers Leo Gaughan Castlerock, Noel Owens Banada and to Sligo Hurling
Coach Liam McDonagh for the hours of work spent in training.

Deepest sympathy is extended to Mrs. Josie Gildea, Carrigeen, and family on the sudden
death of her sister last week.

The indoor hurling league for the national school children will be held in Banada Abbey
Hall on Friday February 15th at 7:00pm for 1st 2nd, and 3rd classes and at 8:00pm for 4th
5th and 6th classes. Also on the night will be the presentation of medals for the hurling
parish league played late last year. The following players on the 2 winning teams are asked
to attend Conor Murphy, Ciaran Durkin, Noel Gaughan, Michael Meers, Andrew
Kennedy, Eimear Walshe, Mairead O’Donnell, Joseph Kilcoyne, Darren Gaughan,
Garvan Jones, Dara Gilligan, Brian Egan, Patrick Neary, David Henry,Sean Gallagher,
Matthew Flynn, Kevin Gallagher, Fiona Walshe, Tracey O’Hara, Kieran Brennan,
Bernard Brennan, Colin Gilligan, Cathal Gavigan, Alan Gavaghan, Aaron Murtagh,
Padraig Leonard,  Killian Gavigan and Liam Gaughan.

The very best of luck is wished to the boys of Castlerock NS who will be contesting the
Cumann na mBunscoil indoor hurling final on Sunday next versus Geevagh. The team and
manager Leo Gaughan arrived at the final by virtue of good wins over Bunninaden,
Templeboy, and Tubbercurry in the semi finals held in Bunninaden recently. The girls of
Banada NS will also contest the final versus Geevagh. The team and manager Noel Owens
NT are also wished good luck.

Preparations for the Annual Membership Draws are well under way. With the dawn of the
Euro, subscriptions this year will be €35 with a top prize of   €500 in each of the draws and a
total fund of €4,000 in prizes. Members of the club will be calling to the houses of the
parish over the next few weeks. The first of the 2 draws will be held on Saturday March 23rd with the second draw at Christmas. As always your support of this fundraiser is vital to the running of our club and is very much appreciated.  All ticket sellers are asked to attend a meeting on Friday February 15th at 9:00pm to finalize plans.

Congratulations to Diarmud Dunne who was recently selected on the Connacht Under 17
Compromise Rules team. Diarmud is a member of the Minor panel and was the youngest
player on the senior panel last year.

Recently the indoor hurling competition was held in Banada Hall for the national schools of
the parish. The girls of Banada NS and the boys of Castlerock NS have advanced to the
second round of the competition.

Bingo continues on Tuesdays at 8:30pm with a minimum prize fund of €1400. The in house
Lotto continues to grow each week. Please support this fundraiser between Banada Hall
Development Committee and Tourlestrane GAA Club. Volunteers are always welcome.
